Red dress Hash

Today we travelled to Chirivel for the Indalo Hash House Harriers 125th hash. The occasion was marked by a red dress run, apparently some years ago an American lady, not knowing exactly what a hash was, arrived wearing a red dress; although realising the unsuitability of her attire she was game enough to complete the hash in the red dress and she has gone down in hash history as a heroine.

One hasher needed some last minute adjustments, the charity shops had been stripped clean of red dresses and wigs. After the circle, where the hare gave instructions, the course set again in salt, the walkers were given a map, we set off. Chirivel is an agricultural town in the north of the province of Almería,  the hashers looked quite a sight, most cars slowed down and the occupants gaped, we happily waved and smiled. The countryside was beautiful as we wandered down narrow lanes. We did actually find an activity area or assault course. As we arrived back in the town the runners caught up with the walkers and we fortunately found the bar where the paella was being prepared for the “on-after”.

As hashers we didn’t miss the opportunity to have some liquid refreshment. We walked through the pretty town. As we completed the hash, misdemeanors were treated accordingly, I got a down-down for being helpful!
