Today we travelled to near Turre, Cortijo Grande overlooks a golf course, with views towards the sea and the Sierra Cabrera . After offers of tea or coffee, we formed a circle to hear the hare’s instructions and set off.
With a promise of walking on something we had not walked on before, the weather was perfect, there was a spring in our step. As it was the day after Burn’s night, we had been asked to wear tartan and there would be a Scottish theme to celebrate the poet.
Towards the Sierra de Los Filabres, we could see three summits, the observatory at Calar Alto (2168m), Tetica de Bacares(2088m) and the hermitage at Monteagudo (1304m). To the coast we could see N.E. over 100kms to Cartagena in Murcia.
The mystery of where we would would be walking was solved, when we noticed a disused airport control tower and buildings.
As we walked onto the tarmac of the runway we noticed it had been marked out at sometime for a tennis court.
After about an hour and a half we arrived back at the car park for the circle, where Scottish themed games such as lob the hot water bottle and dancing accompanied by a piano accordion got us in the mood for the Haggis address.
This pup had enjoyed the Hash, but was dog tired! Some made their excuses and left, we stayed for a jacket potato and chilli – nice.
The hash run sounds like a runaway success! Good to see Two Hats in full regalia too!!
