Serins and flowers

SerinChick22March09(comp)Serinus Serinus, a small European finch related to the Canary. Serins live happily and noisily around our garden. This year a female nested in the honeysuckle and we were able to watch the four eggs progress into young birds, before they flew away.
LoveinamistThis is the time of year when the wild flowers in the garden are a wonderful profusion of colours and shapes. A plant I know as Love in a Mist or Nigella grows around the Mediterranean. Known as a corn field weed, it is believed by some to be the Kezach mentioned in Isaiah 28 verse 27. The dried seed pods are interesting and used in flower arranging.
