Poinsettia plants

Poinsettia2009-01-12The traditional Christmas pot plant, a native of Mexico. I have a plant that has produced the red bracts for some years, but sadly as it was looking at its best, I moved it to a more prominent position in the courtyard and it was windy and the plant suffered.

I bought these two on the market as I found the colours so striking. The Spanish name for the poinsettia is “Flor de pascua” and many of the municipal gardens are filled with them. Pascua relates to Christmas but also significantly Easter and Passover.

Full Moon – 12th December 2008

This Full Moon is the biggest and brightest for years, because the Moon is closer to Earth than normal. (12th December 2008) Viewed through 150mm reflector telescope using my uncle’s Nikon digital SLR camera.
