Today we had a drive along the Almanzora valley to Serón, then took the mountain road into the Sierra de Los Filabres. Calar Alto, where there is an observatory, is the highest point in Almería at 2,168 metres asl. The day was glorious, the roads very quiet, at the top it was chilly, with patches of snow not melted.
After a wander round taking in the wonderful scenery, we returned to the car for a flask of coffee. The car was facing the south side of the mountain and clouds were billowing up and forming in front of us, amazing.
The snow covered mountain range in the background is the Sierra Nevada.
