Flora&Fauna Spanish countryside

We met up with our son, who is a keen photographer, to spend the day in Almería.
We decided to go to the Natural Park of the Cabo de Gata.

We had our lunch in an observation hut, in the cool, overlooking the salt-flats, with the flamingos wading through the shallow water.

We enjoyed looking at the variety of wild life, including the common tern diving for fish and this striped leg grasshopper.

A very friendly wildlife expert and professional guide Jesus Contreras  helped us identify a whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) a wading bird, in the curlew family, that we could see at the water’s edge.
