Dawn 07/03/13

I awoke, it was dark and I was cosy under the duvet; as the minutes ticked by, the overture of bird song began softly.
Out of bed and the door in a second, I stepped into the garden and the silver dawn.
The sky turbid and overcast, a splinter of light to the east, the waning crescent moon appeared through the cloud.
As I made my way to the aviary, the hens greeted me heartily, as I let them out and refreshed their food.
Suddenly the canaries began their song, filling the air with trills and warbles adding volume to the chorus.
The solar lights remained, silently keeping their nocturnal vigil as I returned to the house and my warm bed.
