We followed an organised trail (Sendero) near Huércal- Overa.
This view shows the path weaving it’s way up the hill, actually the path wanders up the hill beyond, just visible.
On the way up the hill we met a local rambling group with 14 members and dog, but other than that, we were able to enjoy the countryside, with just the sounds of birds, including the cuckoo.We were able to photograph a few birds, the black-eared wheatear hopped around on the hunters sign, giving us a good opportunity to identify it easily.
We needed some expert help to identify the little ringed plover
We walked up the hills, then meandered our way down a wide concrete path, stopping for our lunch at a lovely picnic area in the pine trees.
This is a view towards Huércal- Overa.
This tower on the hill appeared to have a religious significance, we promised ourselves to walk up there another time.
Finally a view towards Huércal-Overa as we completed the walk, showing the glazed tiles on the roof of the towers of the church.
