Canal path jaunt

August Bank holiday Monday promised to be a glorious day, earlier in the month it had felt quite autumnal. We decide to explore from the Stourton junction of the Stourbridge canal onto the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal to Kinver.

We parked by the Prestwood nursery, near to the Stewponey road junction and set off down the canal.

The path is very popular with walkers and cyclists, we did have to keep moving over to let faster folk by, it was particularly busy.

We followed the canal stopping to chat with an angler, who was sitting in a sunny position, alas he hadn’t caught anything, but was enjoying the sun and the view.

The meandering river stour runs alongside the canal so for much of the way we had views of both.

After a couple of miles we reached the village of Kinver with a view of St Peter’s Church at the top.

We stopped at the Vine pub, I had a pint of local ale Enville ginger and enjoyed sitting in the garden.

We then wandered back along the tow path to the car, a 5 mile trek in all.
